BOARD MEETING MINUTES

APRIL 12, 2022
(This meeting was scheduled to be face to face but was changed to ZOOM due to a blizzard.)


Zoom Meeting Participants: Linda Carlson, Johnna Douthit, Rita Ennen, April Frank, Brian Kopp, Troy Kuntz, Paula Martin, Renee Newton, Cindy Thronberg, Nikki Wolla

Meeting called to order at 4:02 PM by President Douthit.

2021 Year End Financial Report: See Handout Approved MSP


Library Director’s Report:
          Director Ennen reported that two part-time people have quit with another one about to quit. There was one position that was not filled. An ad for four       

          part-time people will come out soon.

          May will have little programming so that staff can prepare for summer programming.

          ND Humanities Program with author, Eli Sassel, will be streamed live from Fargo on May 12 in the Community Room. 1:00 PM

          May 13: The library will be closed for a staff training day.


Unfinished Business:

          Space Planning:
                   The shelves have been assembled but are waiting for some parts before they can be filled.

                   Downstairs: Things have been rearranged.


          Library Foundation:
                   Steve Josephson will serve as president for a year.

                   They are working on a USDA grant.

                   They are still considering combining the Foundation and Friends boards.


          Friends of the Library:
                   Annual Meeting will be May 19, 2022.


New Business:

         Annual Report:

                   Filed on March 31, 2022

                   PowerPoint presentation is being prepared to give to the city in May.


         Book Mobile Replacement:

                   The current book mobile had recent repairs. We have $183,000 to start.

                   Once a new vehicle is ordered, it takes a year for delivery. Public Works

                   notified us of a ND grant that may be used for vehicle replacement. Thank

                   you to Public Works for saving Bobby when the Book Mobile broke down on I-94.


          Summer Reading Kick Off:

                   May 28, 2022, Saturday Ocean of Possibilities

                   Ice cream and food trucks will be there.

                   Need volunteers.


          Medora Library:

                   This library will be closed this summer for re-carpeting.

                   The Book Mobile will be there on Mondays.
