2017 Summer Reading Program Kickoff

  • 29,052 program attendance at 303 programs (19,198 kids, 7020 teens, 2834 adults)
  • 476 people given tours, 1216 fair attendees, 560 summer reading kickoff, 400 eclipse viewers
  • AARP tax help – 362 individuals

Visitor Highlights

  • We were open 5318 hours
    • 3172 hours at the main library
    • 1118 hours in the bookmobile – 492 stops
    • 1028 hours in Medora
  • We had 11,642 registered borrowers
  • 88,039 yearly visits
  • 105,292 total circulation (50,167 adult materials & 55,125 children’s materials)
  • 18,212 electronic materials loaned (9,866 eBooks, 8,192 eAudio, 154 streaming video)

  • 2176 items loaned to other libraries
  • 391 items borrowed from other libraries
  • AWE Early Literacy Station – 1798 sessions averaging 28 mins.

Summer Reading Program

    • 143 kids turned in Activity Logs
    • 9,660 activities completed (67.55 per child average)
    • Build a Better World -   Children’s Program (Ages 5-10)
  • 326 kids turned in reading logs
  • All total they read 292,700 minutes!  (Averaged 897.85 minutes per child)
  • Up from 646.20 minutes per child in 2016
  • Build a Better World -   Teen program (Ages 11-17)
  • 104 turned in coupons
  • Read a total of 3,638 hours(averaged 17 hours read per teen) *
  • Build a Better World - Adult Program
  • 129 turned in book coupons
  • Read a total of 284,700 pages(Average of 2,206 pages per adult)*

Most popular items:


The original DVD of the series Paw Patrol circulated a whopping 31 times.
The most popular books with 18 circulations each were:
        Little Dinos Don’t Hit  by Michael Dahl
        Barbie in the Pink Shoes : Ballet Dreams by Kristen Depken
        Blame it on the Rain : Doc McStuffins by Jennifer Liberts
Most Popular adult collection materials included the DVD Logan with 28 circulations and The Mistress : a novel by Danielle Steele which went out 16 times.
