NEW AUTO REPAIR RESOURCE

The Dickinson Area Public Library is pleased to announce that the Auto Repair Reference Center resource from EBSCO has been added to the collection of Online Library Resources.  This new resource is available through the North Dakota State Library or your community library.  You may also access this resource from home by signing in    using your library card information or remote access information from your library.

From the former publisher of Chilton's auto repair, Auto Repair Reference Center includes information on most domestic and imported vehicles from 1945 to the present. It contains wiring diagrams, drawings, videos, technical service bulletins and recalls, specifications, maintenance schedules, and a labor cost estimator. These can be printed and taken to the work site for convenient reference.

This is a very user-friendly resource. After you have selected the year of your vehicle from the main screen, choose the make and model. You are then presented with repair options including Repair Procedures, Service Bulletins and Recalls, Wiring Diagrams, Labor Estimator, Specifications, and Maintenance Intervals. The information is clear, concise and informative.

The Auto IQ tab on the main screen features videos  designed as interactive learning tools. The videos and animated technical diagrams demonstrate the function and   service requirements of vehicle systems. The Care & Repair Tips tab presents tips on fixing your vehicle and buying the right tools and parts for the repair job. The Troubleshooting tab opens a new window with troubleshooting tips for a variety of automotive topics.

COMPUTER  CLASSES

 

   The Stark and Billings Counties Extension Service will once again be offering three computer classes this fall.  Using the Dickinson Area Public Library computer lab, these classes will be conducted by Sharon Kickertz-Gerbig, Stark-Billings Extension Agent.  Classes are geared for beginners and will be held in the Public Library’s community room.  The class schedule is as follows:

   Monday classes will begin September 8th and run through December 15th.  Tuesday classes will begin September 9th and run through December 16th.  Times are:  Monday afternoons from 1:30 to 4:30 pm, Monday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 pm and Tuesday mornings from 9:00 to 12 noon.  Each class will meet a total of 15 times.

    The weekly class sessions will include discussion and hands-on experience.  Participants will work on “assignments” at home to practice what was covered in each weekly class.

    There will be a registration fee for the class that will cover each participant’s notebook and other materials.
